    Join a leading company in the Maritime Industry in a newly created senior level Risk Management position Moran Towing Corporation ) has an opportunity available for an experienced Senior Risk Manager in our New Canaan, CT headquarters office. This full-time, salaried, exempt position reports to the Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary ("General Counsel").

    Position Summary


    The Senior Risk Manager will manage a complex and diverse insurance and risk management program involving both marine and non-marine business operations.

    SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:

    Insurance Program Management
    Work closely with the Company's insurance brokers to clarify coverage issues and identify gaps in coverage.

    Develop and utilize a detailed knowledge of the Company's insurance programs and how they work to effectively manage these programs.

    Work with the Company's brokers to prepare policy renewal data for use in connection with presentations to U.S. and London underwriters.
    Build, maintain, and manage relationships with claims adjusters, insurers, outside legal counsel, and other claims related parties.

    Work with counsel and the Company's insurance brokers to identify contractual and business risks affecting the Company's business operations and confirm insurance coverage of identified risks.

    In addition, work with in-house counsel and corporate Safety and Training departments to mitigate contractual and operational risk.
    Ensure that insurance certificates which comply with contractual requirements are timely provided.

    Actively participate in the education of Operations Management about the Company's insurance program and applicable risk management policies and principles.

    Contract Review
    Review insurance terms contained in contracts, proposals, and RFPs to provide sound advice to business units.
    Review contract provisions related to indemnity, liability, and insurance to ensure that corporate interests are protected.

    Claims Management
    Participate as required in any immediate response (day or night) to significant incidents.

    Under direction of General Counsel, coordinate with insurers and outside attorneys in litigated/represented matters with respect to liability, damage, and insurance coverage issues, including participating in compiling responses to discovery.

    Understand and communicate claims management philosophy and strategy to business units and regional management.
    Work closely with relevant Operational Management on individual claims to ensure alignment between Operations Management and Claims Management teams.

    Manage the incident reporting process in conjunction with safety personnel and identify and lead necessary reporting process revisions to ensure proper, timely reporting to relevant insurers.

    Insurance Data Collection and Management

    Supervise Risk Manager and ensure that all areas of the Company complete accurate documentation of incidents and maintain relevant databases to assist in identifying and analyzing claim trends.

    Ensure all policy renewals and documentation are stored in a central database, including certificates of insurance, endorsements, copies of policies, and other subsequent placements.

    Collaborate with safety and compliance departments and Operations Management on incident investigations, report-writing, and root cause analysis.

    Insurance Budget and Reporting
    Perform reconciliations of estimated premiums versus actual premiums.
    Work with Accounting to ensure proper accounting of insurance premiums and claims.
    Support new business development and business acquisitions as needed.

    Required Qualifications
    Bachelor's degree in business, risk management or a related field.

    Minimum 8 years of insurance (including marine and non-marine insurance) and risk management experience with a large insurance brokerage and/or corporate risk management department.

    Experience dealing with insurance brokers and underwriters in the United States.

    Knowledge of risk management best practices coupled with an ability to identify business risks, including contractual risks, which implicate insurance coverages.

    Ability to work with Company databases and work collaboratively with safety, compliance, operations, and other areas of the Company to enhance risk mitigation.

    Strong Microsoft Office computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
    Valid driver's license and ability to drive.
    Superior organization, project management, and problem-solving skills along with close attention to detail.
    Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate clearly and concisely verbally and in writing.
    Ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of managers/employees through the company.
    Strong commitment and ability to produce high quality work in a timely manner.

    Commitment to courtesy, honesty, and personal integrity in all dealings with Company personnel, Company brokers and underwriters, customers, service providers, and other third parties.

    Preferred Qualifications
    5+ years of experience within marine and construction industries.
    3+ years of experience working within an enterprise insurance program.
    Experience dealing with insurance brokers and underwriters in London.
    Experience with SharePoint.


    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    Frequently reaching with hands and arms.
    Occasionally crouching or stooping.
    Occasionally lift and/or carry up to 20 lbs.
    Adeptly use a computer, including good finger dexterity.
    Hear and speak, including the ability to present to an audience.
    Have close and color vision, allowing reading of printed material, graphics, and computer displays.


    WORKING CONDITIONS

    Work is performed mainly in an office setting but there may also be periods of non-traditional hours, including evenings and weekends.

    Ability and willingness to work at least 2 days/week in the New Canaan, CT office, with remote work permissible the remaining days of the week, if desired.

    Ability and willingness to travel occasionally (less than 20%).
