    Description
    I am a recruiter with a cutting edge design/manufacturing medical device company, located in the Buffalo, NY area. This is a Class 2 electro-mechanical Bluetooth enabled device with AI technology. This device will revolutionize this product category.


    Responsibilities:


    Assume overall ownership of existing electronic design to prepare for volume production, to support software development, and to support design validation/verification.

    Debug and troubleshooting of existing design. Resolve functional issues in hardware/software system interactions. Isolate defects in new PCBs. Devise tests and experiments to isolate root cause of problems.


    Develop hardware/software documentation, test tools, and fixtures for data collection, testing and calibration of hardware and software in both development and production environments.

    Includes assembly of commercial modules, test equipment and software, as well as modifications of the company's hardware and firmware.

    Technical communication and direction for vendors supplying custom assemblies, including PCBs, displays, motors, and batteries. Collaborate with vendors to analyze, isolate and resolve functional and manufacturability issues to maximize yield and reliability.


    Requirements / Essential skills:
    Read and understand electronic schematics. Understanding of common circuit topologies, including switching power converters, serial interfaces (esp. UART, SPI and i2c), and battery chargers.

    Understanding of electronic component data sheets, functions and specifications. Able to evaluate similar parts for replacement/substitution.

    Strong troubleshooting, debug and failure analysis skills. Proficiency with electronic test equipment including oscilloscope and logic analyzer.

    Familiarity with PCB manufacturing process, design for manufacturing, and creation of fab/assembly design packages.


    Bonus skills:
    Development of embedded C code for low level hardware control and communication. Experience with microcontroller toolchains and debuggers (Especially Microchip/AVR).

    Development of FPGA code and logic design concepts (Especially Verilog) and FPGA architecture and toolchains (Especially Lattice).

    Understanding of ESD protection principles and processes.

    PCB layout skills and CAD tools (Especially Altium).

    Understanding of high speed signal integrity principles.
