    Description
    BASIC FUNCTION: The Exercise Physiologist functions as a collaborative member of the Cardiopulmonary Services team. Responsible for overseeing the daily patient care activities in cardiac rehabilitation while performing cardiac rehabilitation functions for Grand River Hospital District (GRHD). Key responsibilities and duties include direct patient care in assisting patients with cardiac rehabilitation.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Develops problem based exercise programs and plans of care for cardiac rehabilitation patients.
    • Provides or oversees cardiac rehab classes for patients recovering from heart attacks or coronary events, cardiac surgery, etc.
    • Develops and provides individualized clinical interventions and patient education activities and evaluates effectiveness.
    • Reviews patient history, medications and other pertinent information as a part of program development for each patient.
    • Educates patients on nutrition and lifestyle education in conjunction with Health Education department.
    • Performs initial assessments on patients before beginning a cardiac rehabilitation program.
    • Monitors patient vitals during classes, documents patient progress and pertinent clinical documentation, reports patient progress and activities to Physicians.
    • Recognizes any significant participant conditions such as dysrhythmia, abnormal blood pressure responses, change in participant status, chest pain and takes appropriate action; reports to primary or referring Physicians
    • Communicates interdepartmentally and with referring Physicians as needed.
    • Performs a variety of tasks and other duties as assigned.
    QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Master's degree in Exercise Physiology or similar required.
    • Must have current BLS certification and must maintain current status throughout employment.
    • ACLS certification must be obtained within 90 days of employment with current status required to be maintained throughout employment.
    • Four years of experience of critical care or cardiac rehabilitation experience preferred.
    SALARY INFORMATION:
    • $ $35.00 Dependent on experience may vary outside this range
    • Additional $2.00 - $4.00 an hour for additional weekend and night shifts
    • Compensation may vary outside this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience
