Job summary

We're seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team. This role will be responsible for HVAC design for various project types, including mission critical, healthcare, and corporate commercial. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, 10 years of experience in the commercial building design and construction industry, and a current professional engineers license in the US.

Responsibilities

  • Project Manager responsibilities for engineering-prime projects as well as client interface, generate and track project delivery schedule, and develop and allocate fees for mechanical engineering work;
  • Coordinate with MEP department heads for resource allocation;
  • Track budgets throughout design;
  • Perform engineering studies for highly technical clients whose details include but are not limited to payback analyses, knowledge of industry trends, and local contractor and maintenance expertise;
  • Technical writing for engineering studies, Basis of Design documents, and narratives for non-technical audience explaining engineering concepts to facilitate decision-making;
  • Oversee load calculations, develop system applications as well as engineering program coordination;
  • Coordinate with all trades, including architectural, structural and civil;
  • Signing and sealing contract documents;
  • Mentorship, both continual as well as presentations for in-house continuing education program.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering from an accredited, four-year university; Ten years of engineering experience in the commercial building design and construction industry with a current Professional Engineers license in the U.S.;
  • Five years of experience as the primary engineering interface with multiple clients. This could be either as a project manager or as the engineering lead;
  • Five years project management / client interface experience;
  • Technical writing experience and proficiency;
  • Proficiency in MS Office products, including Word, Excel, Outlook and Project;
  • Experience with REVIT 2016 or newer. Experience is considered at least 25% of work hours spent in production with the software;
  • Experience with Trane Trace or IES VE Energy Modeling software;
  • Willingness to travel overnight for projects up to 10% of the time.
