Job Responsibilities:
Manage designated commodities to achieve key performance indicators (KPIs), encompassing annual improvements in supplier costs, manufacturing efficiency, localization, value analysis/value engineering (VA/VE), quality enhancement, and expansion of the supply base.
Formulate, implement, and oversee commodity strategies.
Conduct cost analyses to assess supplier competitiveness.
Acquire in-depth understanding of primary cost drivers to facilitate accurate comparison of quotes and current prices, and to negotiate optimal component prices.
Develop commodity cost estimates to inform sourcing decisions, negotiations, and supplier enhancement initiatives.
Preferably possess experience in procuring components for electric vehicles.
Issue purchase orders for production components and tooling.
Maintain comprehensive procurement records including non-disclosure agreements, requests for quotations (RFQs), quotations, supplier agreements, contracts, and recommendation sheets.
Lead negotiations with suppliers across assigned commodities.
Foster enduring, mutually beneficial relationships with suppliers.
Collaborate internally and externally to identify and manage cost reduction opportunities.
Monitor supplier performance and deliver formal feedback during annual business reviews.
Act as a point of escalation for supply base-related issues from other departments.
Contribute to the development and execution of plans for new program launches and projects.
Develop the supply base in North America for localization of parts.
Lead supplier benchmarking initiatives.
May lead project teams.
Drive continuous improvement within the supply base to align with organizational objectives.
Liaise closely with key stakeholders and manufacturing facilities to fulfill operational requirements.
Support Product Planning and Engineering initiatives.
Cultivate teamwork and collaboration across departments, including with counterparts in Japan.
Provide assistance to manufacturing plants for strategic concerns and supplier performance matters.
Regularly report progress to management.
Manage cost data, updating pricing information and resolving discrepancies in collaboration with buyers.
Fulfill any other duties as assigned by management.
Required Skills:
Proficiency in MS Excel and MS PowerPoint.
Strong organizational and data management capabilities.
Excellent negotiation skills.
Familiarity with automotive manufacturing processes and associated costs preferred.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate across functions in a team-oriented environment.
Experience engaging with non-U.S.-based customers/suppliers preferred.
Capacity to work autonomously and meet deadlines.
Education & Experience Requirements:
Bachelors degree preferred (in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or Finance).
Minimum of 3 years of purchasing experience, with automotive industry experience highly advantageous.
Travel Requirements:
Willingness to travel up to 20%.
