    High Power Electromagnetics Division (HPEM) is looking for a remarkably talented, motivated, and imaginative Electrical Engineer to support research and development activities and transition innovative technologies to the DoD, DoE, and their contractors in Colorado Springs, CO.

    The candidate will have the opportunity to grow and learn with talented engineers, physicists, and technicians on long-standing programs and new programs supporting our customers.

    Our small group will allow the candidate to experience, contribute, and collaborate in a multidisciplinary nature from conception all the way through to operation.

    Candidates must be strong team participants, have excellent communication skills, be resourceful and creative, and willing to contribute to a multidisciplinary and fast-paced engineering environment.


    Core Responsibilities:
    Hardware Electronics DesignDesigning, developing, testing, and analyzing complex high-power solid-state switching systems and devices, gate-drive circuits, snubber circuits, protection circuits, microcontroller-based control systems, FPGA based systems, and data acquisition systemsDesign, implement, maintain, or improve electrical systems for R&D purposesExecuting SPICE simulations of complex control systems for high-power solid-state switching systemsDesigning, manufacturing, and testing of PCBsTests new products; develops systems to gather digital data during testingAssist in firmware testing and hardware testing of HV systemsDevelops ongoing quality control testing procedures to be incorporated into the regular production processWriting detailed technical reports and maintain comprehensive project documentationAssisting technical leadership with the development of Applied Research, Pulsed Power systems, Directed Energy systems, and measures of effectiveness of such systemsSupporting highly-technical engineering and scientific teams on field test activities when and if necessary (moderate travel is required on occasion)

    Critical thinking and problem solvingExcellent decision-making and leadership capabilitiesConflict resolution experienceAdaptability to work in a fluid, fast-paced team environmentRequirements:Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering2-5 years work experienceExperience using basic data acquisition equipment including multimeters, oscilloscopes, network analyzers, voltage probes, current probes, and spectrum analyzersExperience with data processing software including Excel, MATLAB, and MathcadExperience with analog and digital circuit design and layoutExperience with software including DipTrace, OrCAD, P-SPICE, and LTSPICEExcellent written and verbal communication skillsExcellent organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skillsWillingness to occasionally travel to brief customers or participate in development testingMust be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearanceUS CITIZENSHIP required for security clearance purposes
    Preferred Qualifications:6+ years experience in one or more of the following: Circuit design with Power ElectronicsPulsed PowerHigh Power Solid-State SwitchingPower ConditioningDCDC & ACDC Power ConversionHigh Voltage (1s to 100s of kilovolts)
