    Summary:
    This position undertakes transportation planning, coordinate and supervises daily operations, plan and develops bus and bus driver, and charter schedules for Bulldog Transit System (BTS)

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Supervise the bus drivers' daily duties.
    • Maintain bus schedules for BTS and work schedules of all drivers.
    • Maintain fuel, bus, drive logs both manual and electronically.
    • Maintain and track driver driving records.
    • Manage electronic information systems also known as Transportation Intelligent Systems (ITS).
    • Maintain departmental web page, and social media outlets, such Facebook and twitter.
    • Maintain bus/vehicle maintenance records.
    • Coordinate with bus/vehicle maintenance shop with scheduling monthly Department of Transportation (DOT) inspections and repairs as needed.
    • Serve as a dispatcher, receives and routes telephone/radio calls, as required to maintain a fluid operation.
    • Provide assistance as needed to perform bus pre-trip and post trip functions which includes cleaning/sweeping.
    • Implement and enforce safety programs, training and DOT/FTA regulations as required by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulatory agency.
    • Coordinate driver training and orientation, drug testing program and risk management activities.
    • Serve as a customer service representative for the department, answering questions and receiving complaints and concerns regarding operating policies and procedures of BTS.
    • Develops and administers customer surveys to determine the level of program activity and quality of services provided by BTS.
    • Administer evaluations instruments for bus routes and driver performance.
    • Act as a resource person and liaison in coordinating activities and program development with various university entities.
    • Investigate/research other university institutions similar to AAMU to identify and adopt best practices.
    • Makes recommendations regarding innovative alternative modes of transportation and parking.
    • Prepare monthly and quarterly reports as needed.
    • Frequently analyze statistical data
    • Performs administrative assistant and or secretarial duties/tasks as required or assigned by the director of transportation.
    Minimum Position Requirements (including years of experience, certifications, licenses, etc.):


    A bachelor's degree in business administration with a concentration in Logistics or Logistics or related field, preferably with one year experience in a university/college campus transit or transportation system and a commercial driver's license (CDL) with passenger/air brake endorsements.


    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Must possess personal computer skills involving application such as word processing, data base management.
    • Must be able to plan, assign and coordinate work; data analysis and make sound decisions, possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Must have an aptitude to manage and coordinate different range of projects.
    • Must possess a general understanding of motor vehicle/bus operations and components.
    • Must possess the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing along with the ability to work with people effectively in resolving conflicts and problems, present a professional appearance always.

    Special Requirements:

    • This position requires the ability to work flexible hours, nights, and weekends and be on call.
    • Outdoor activities.
