    About the Opportunity

    Summary:

    Reporting to the Senior Director of Cultural and Spiritual Life, the Director of the LGBTQA Resource Center is responsible for the overall direction and management of the Center. Established in 2009, the LGBTQA Resource Center is continuously evolving to meet the needs of the diverse LGBTQA+ population on campus. The Director is charged with setting a vision, priorities, and implementing strategies with the primary goal of increasing the sense of belonging for LGBTQA+ people on campus. A visionary leader, the Director will create and sustain a robust network that includes students, alumni, faculty, campus partners and external organizations to continuously expand the Center's reach. The Director will seek opportunities to explore the intersectional identities within the LGBTQA+ population on campus and will actively support the growing number of affinity groups that call the Center home. The Director will identify strategies for supporting and developing formally recognized student organizations that have a relationship with the Center and will serve in an advising role as necessary. The Director plays a key role in the creation of programming throughout the year, including but not limited to, OUTober, Rainbow Graduation and ReachOUT. Reporting to the Director, and assisting in these efforts, will be one full-time Associate Director and one Assistant Director. Additionally, the Director will be a collaborative leader who is able to partner with a multitude of campus partners to deliver education, training and support to the global campus community. Together with the Senior Director, the Director will identify strategic partners across the enterprise and build coalitions to ensure all our learners have a positive and enriching experience across Northeastern's global network.

    Qualifications:

    Master's degree in a related field with at least 5-7 years of experience working with diverse or marginalized populations. Knowledge of social justice issues and best practices, programming, student activism and diversity issues is a must. Prior supervision of full-time staff is highly desirable, as is experience leading strategic change within a complex organization.

    Responsibilities Include:

    • Programming and Outreach- Develop strategic vision for the center. Create meaningful and sustainable relationships with all campuses/hubs in the Northeastern global system. Identify opportunities to improve administrative procedures that impact a students' sense of belonging on campus. Facilitate trainings and provide consultations for campus partners seeking to increase LGBTQA access to programs and services.
    • Operations & Oversight- manage budget and manage the administrative component of program planning.
    • Lead team of Associate Director, 2 Assistant Directors, and Program Coordinator. Actively support a positive team culture.
