    THE POSITION

The Department of Corrections, State Correctional Institution at Phoenix is seeking someone highly motivated to join our team as a Corrections General Industries Factory Foreperson.     DESCRIPTION OF WORK

    As a Corrections General Industries Factory Foreperson for the Department of Corrections, you perform and oversee advanced manufacturing work in the production or processing of products or services at SCI Phoenix.

    Duties include instructing, training, and supervising inmates in the practices, methods, and procedures of the industry. You provide demonstrations, explanations, and close supervision during training and work assignments. Also, you are responsible for planning, assigning, reviewing, and evaluating the work of assigned inmates. In addition, you maintain training progress reports, wage reports, and attendance records for assigned inmates and maintain established standards of quality and quantity during production through inspection of equipment, raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods. This includes the responsibility for the maintenance and repair of factory equipment.

    Work Schedule and Additional Information:
    • Full-time employment, 40-hour work week
    • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday to Friday.
    • This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
    • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $48, before taxes).

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

    QUALIFICATIONS
    Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
    • Three years of experience in the production of goods or services; or
    • An associate degree in industrial technology, operations management, business administration, or a related field; and one year of work experience in the production of goods or services; or
    • An equivalent combination of experience and training, which includes one year of work experience in the production of goods or services.
    Other Requirements:
    • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
