    About the Agency

    The Mississippi Department of Transportation is responsible for providing a safe intermodal transportation network that is planned, designed, constructed and maintained in an effective, cost efficient, and environmentally sensitive manner.

    Located in the Construction Division. A seasoned level engineering position accountable for complex design and design review in a designated engineering discipline. Performs project planning and budgeting and project management of complex engineering projects. Participates in the setting of parameters for engineering specifications. Participates in the preparation of new rules and regulations and in revision to existing rules and regulations. Reviews proposed changes to statutes and their impact. Mentors lower-level professional individual contributors. Has decision making authority within approved parameters on complex/large impact projects and complex/high impact rules and regulations compliance.

    Serves as source of testimony and expert advice to entities such as the Legislature, Committees, Courts, Commissions, and external engineering firms.

    May supervise engineering technicians.
    What you'll need to be Successful
    Attention to detail, supervisory skills. Work from a remote MDOT location will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
    Preferred Qualifications

    Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant Engineering discipline, licensure as a Professional Engineer, and 4-6 years of experience.
