Rate: $14.50 hourly

Type: Part-time, not to exceed 28 hours weekly

General Purpose of Position

Performs routine duties related to the operation and maintenance of Senior Citizen and FLERT buses, as well as provides necessary services for residents

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Performs tasks related to bus operation for the Division of Health

•Work involves the daily operation of the F.L.E.R.T., disabled, and Senior Citizen Buses. Must function with a minimum of supervision and physically assist passengers as necessary

•Transports Senior Citizens, disabled persons and other passengers within the boundaries of the City of Florissant

•Shall cautiously drive one or more types of automotive bus equipment

•Shall assist passengers as necessary entering and exiting the bus

•Shall perform daily driver maintenance on buses

•Shall physically load and unload groceries and other materials from the bus and carry them up and down stairs

•Keeps and maintains First Aid kits

•Provides general upkeep of buses and all pertinent equipment

•Maintains daily logs accurately, regarding the necessary safety checks for buses and their activities

Performs tasks for communications within, and on behalf of, Health Division

•Shall maintain a daily record of passenger pickups and deliveries

•Shall coordinate the daily door-to-door pick-up scheduled with appointments made by phone

•Coordinates with Senior Office in all emergency scenarios

•Provides assistance with passengers, regarding usage of the buses

•Promotes harmony and good will among passengers and with City of Florissant

Performs other duties as directed

Requirements

Education and Experience

• The person in this position must have a high school diploma or its equivalent
• Ability to effectively meet and deal with the public; ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; ability to handle stressful situations is vital for this position

Licenses and Certifications

• A valid Class C Commercial Driver's License with an endorsement for Passenger/Bus is required
• Being CPR certified is preferred.
