REQUIREMENTS AND PREFERENCES
The Broward County Board of County Commissioners is seeking qualified candidates for an Information Technology Specialist (Computer Aided Dispatch section) within the Regional Emergency Services and Communications Technology Division.
The position is responsible for the mission critical public safety client applications, as well as, server and network infrastructure used to support the operation of the County wide Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), Mobile Data, and Records Management Systems.Duties include delivery of emergency communication and technology services to Broward County's first responders, creating tactical/ strategic plans for short and long term goals, analyzing work procedures, planning, recommending and implementing solutions and automation enhancements.
Work involves developing, implementing, and maintaining policies, procedures, guidelines, and protocols for the Regional Public Safety Application systems (CAD, AVL, Mobile Data, Law Records, Fire Records, etc.), in cooperation with staff from the County, Sheriff, Municipal Police, and Municipal Fire Departments, as well as, other related regional public safety departments.
Knowledge and familiarity with advanced computer software applications and hardware components, and the principles, methods and procedures of modern police, fire, and emergency medical services.
Strong written, verbal, interpersonal and presentation communication skills.
Experience with performing research, data analysis, and feasibility studies in order to submit technical and management reports.
Experience with providing client laptop and desktop hardware support and administration.
Experience with database administration.

General Description:
Manages large scale information technology projects.
Works under administrative supervision, developing and implementing programs within organizational policies and reports major activities to executive level administrators through conferences and reports.
Requires a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in computer science or closely related field.
(One year of relevant experience may be substituted for each year of required education.)
Requires four (4) years of experience in systems analysis, systems design and/or applications programming relevant to area of assignment including related project management or closely related experience.
Special Certifications and Licenses Possession of or eligibility to obtain basic FCIC/NCIC certification. Possession and maintenance of a valid Florida Driver's License.

Reviews systems designs, development of applications, and documentation for accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to departmental standards.
