    Hybrid Work Details:

    Subject to DCYs teleworking policy and an approved teleworking agreement, this position is eligible to work from a remote location on a hybrid basis. The selected applicant may be required to complete initial trainings prior to being eligible to telework. All requests to telework are reviewed on a case-by-case basis and must be approved by DCY's Deputy Director of Human Resources and management, subject to the conditions outlined in the agency policy and teleworking agreement.

    What You'll Do:

  • Acts as public health consultant for the Bureau of Maternal and Infant Vitality's (BMIV), Ohio Equity Initiative section for assigned number of local projects on a statewide basis to monitor health status to identify community health problems: provides health education to reinforce health promotion programs and messages.assists in planning/assessment of solutions to public health problems/issues to promote change in public health practice.provides technical assistance to reduce health risk and promotes better health through public health services.
  • Develops and provides updates of subject matter content for Bureau website.
  • Completes associated paperwork and justifications to initiate fiscal activities as needed.
  • Tracks expenditures related to Ohio Equity Initiative' projects and provides updates to budget liaison.
  • Assists in preparing or prepares grant applications for Ohio Equity Initiative and monitors and evaluates spending and assists in preparing or prepares budget estimates.
  • Reviews and approves contract invoices.
  • Assists Manager of Community Initiatives in the development of policy, codes, and regulations to protect the health of the public and to guide the practice of public health specific to Ohio Equity Initiative.
  • Provides technical assistance to stakeholders regarding Ohio Equity Initiative.
  • Develops survey and evaluation plans to assess program/project outcomes.
  • Coordinates distribution of newsletters and/or prepares articles for inclusion in newsletters.
  • Serves as the staff liaison to internal and external stakeholders related to Ohio Equity Initiative.

  • Applications of those who meet the minimum qualifications will be further evaluated against the following criteria:

  • Graduate or advanced degree in public health, health care or health administration
  • Coursework in one of the following: public health, health education, community development
  • Experience working with the maternal and child health population, particularly regarding equity, birth outcomes, infant mortality, and priority populations
  • Experience with social determinants of health and health equity
  • Experience evaluating maternal and child health activities
  • Experience providing technical assistance or consultation
  • Experience with community engagement
  • Experience facilitating or coordinating meetings and/or trainings
  • Experience developing and presenting training or public speaking
  • Experience in monitoring/administering grants or contracts
  • Experience with computer software (, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access)
  • Experience with quality, performance, or process improvement activities

    Qualifications
  • 6 mos. exp. in providing direct service &/or consultation in a public health, community health, hospital &/or clinic setting, to include exp. in program evaluation, grant review, developing & presenting training programs & in facilitating &/or working collaboratively with coalitions or groups;
  • Completion of graduate core coursework in public health, health care, health administration or related field; must be able to provide own transportation.

  • 18 mos. exp. in providing direct service &/or consultation in a public health, community health, hospital &/or clinic setting, to include exp. in program evaluation, grant review, developing & presenting training programs & in facilitating &/or working collaboratively with coalitions or groups;
  • Completion of undergraduate core coursework in public health, health care, health administration or related field; must be able to provide own transportation.

    Unless required by legislation, the selected candidate will begin at Pay Grade 12, Step 1 of the 1199 Pay Range Schedule ($28.92 per hour), with an opportunity for pay increase after six months ($30.39) of satisfactory performance and then a yearly raise thereafter.
