    UnityPoint Health - Meriter Laboratories is seeking either a Medical Laboratory Technician (or CLT) or a Medical Laboratory Technologist (or CLS). This position provides technical expertise and performs clinical analysis of biological specimens using various procedures and instruments in one or more sections of the laboratory. The test results aid the physician in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. The Medical Technologist (MT) maintains and troubleshoots highly complex technical instruments.     Required Qualifications
    MLT certification by ASCP, HEW or NCA - or - Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or a chemical or biological science.

    Must have skills and knowledge of proper specimen collection required for performing test methods and proper instrument use, and for performing preventive maintenance and quality control

    Must be aware of factors influencing test results and have the ability to assess and verify the validity of patient test results prior to reporting patient test results

    Preferred Qualifications
    BA or BS in a chemical or biological science; MT degree certified by ASCP, HEW or NCA

    Experience in a clinical laboratory setting using automated instruments and an Information System

    Prior experience in Blood Bank, Microbiology, Hematology, and Chemistry in a hospital laboratory setting
