    Workdays: Monday - Friday
    Location: 2018 Avenue B #100, San Antonio, TX, 78215

    Summary:

    Coordinates the provision of childcare services and pre-school readiness to toddlers from 1.5 yrs. to 4yrs old. Childcare services are offered to all programs hosting events or classes for eligible clients. Assists the Program Director in the direct oversight and delegation of childcare activities. This position will watch over young (refugee) children while mothers and fathers attend classes on site. This position will create a welcoming, engaging and educational environment that is culturally appropriate for the toddlers. When not in the Childcare classroom, this position will help with outreach to families to participate in services, file documentation and any staff trainings.

    Position Responsibilities:

    • Facilitates childcare activities across programmatic events, including English Language (ELI) Instruction classes, Job Readiness classes, family orientations, parenting classes, and case management enrollment.
    • *Maintains calendar with department staff to schedule childcare services for events.
    • *Outreaches external resources and collaborators to facilitate donations of space and supplies for childcare.
    • *Creates and executes engaging classroom activities, and supplemental materials to teach young children.
    • *Able to keep young children busy with engaging activities for a minimum of (3) hrs. From 3-5 days a week.
    • *Able to work in a diverse classroom setting with toddlers (1.5 yrs. To 4 yrs.) From various countries and language levels.
    • *Able to follow a schedule with toddlers and have classroom management.
    • Will be responsible for keeping the childcare classroom filled with necessary supplies, from cleaning products, arts and crafts, toys and games, music and storybooks.
    • *Works with the parent educator to refer children aging out of the nursery to HeadStart and Pre-K programs, puts together school supply kits for children leaving nursery for school.
    • *Communicates with parents on crisis and behavior intervention for concerns in the nursery. Able to provide guidance on issues as well as updates on child's progress.
    • *Able to input and retrieve data from an online external Refugee Database, to keep track of all client information and program goals
    • Other duties as assigned by Director of Education.

    Requirements

    Minimum Qualifications:
    • Education
      • Bachelor's degree in education, social service or business-related field.
    • OR Experience
      • Minimum of (1) years working experience in working with toddlers and or children and/or one year of experience working in a social services environment that demonstrates a sensitivity and appreciation for diverse cultural populations is preferred.
    • License and Credentials
      • Reliable transportation
      • Must have clean driving record.
      • Valid driver license
      • Valid vehicle insurance
      • Ability to operate an agency 12 passenger van on an as needed basis for program activities and events.
      • Must be 21 years of age and adhere to the CCAOSA policy, which will not allow anyone under the age of 21 to operate an agency vehicle.
    Minimum Knowledge and Skills:
    • Minimum of 1 years' experience in working in a social service environment that demonstrates a sensitivity and appreciation for diverse cultural populations is preferred.
    • Experience with personal computer, various computer software, email and Microsoft Works, specifically Excel.
    • Must be detail oriented, organized, self-motivated, work well independently and on a team.
    • Must have good written and verbal skills.
    • Must have good critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to maintain appropriate ethical boundaries and professional client relationship.
    • Flexibility to respond to the needs of a client population that changes daily.
    • Ability to drive and maintain reliable personal transportation.
    • Able to drive a 12-passenger vehicle when necessary.
    • Bilingual is a plus, but not required.
    Travel Requirements: Travel requirements for the position includes50% local and _ 0% overnight.
