Mission or Goal of Unit:
The mission of the Division of PediatricHematology/Oncology is to serve the Commonwealth of Virginia as a nationallyrecognized entity of clinical, educational and research excellence.
Chief Purpose of this position:
We are seeking candidates for a position which will provide a mix of directclinical care, clinical administrative and QA/QI activities, didactic andbedside teaching for students, residents and fellows, and have a strong researchinitiative.
Position Responsibilities:
Teaching:
Bedside teaching of residents, students and fellows while onclinical service. Sharedresponsibility for divisional didactic instruction of residents, students andfellows.
Research:
Continued development of scholarly activity. Serve as mentor to researchers in divisionand department when appropriate.
Service:
Participation in the community and school committees whenappropriate.
Clinical:
Host regular ambulatory clinics, as appropriate. Shares in a negotiated amount of inpatientservices including night and weekend coverage.
Other(for instance administrative duties, etc.): Serve as administrative lead for Pediatric Hematology/Oncology.
Required Qualifications:
MD/DO degree; Board certification required
Eligible for medical license in Virginia
Strongresearch background
Previousexperience as a program director or division head or equivalent experience
Experience inan academic medical center
Demonstratedexperience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and studentenvironment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
