    Description
    Yoh Life Sciences is hiring for a Manufacturing Scientist I with our diagnostics customer in Rockville, MD.  You will collaborate with the formulation team to ensure that all biological products released are safe, stable, and effective. This role ensures that formulation activities are conducted in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and applicable regulatory requirements.

    Position: Manufacturing Scientist I
    Location: Rockville, MD
    Duration:  Contract to permanent 
    Shift: M-F 7:30/8am - 5pm 
    Pay: $25-28/hr DOE 

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Perform routine bench work to support lateral flow manufacturing, including solution formulation, conjugation, and card production processes. Coordinate daily manufacturing activities to efficiently meet production plans and schedules while ensuring adherence to quality standards and safety protocols.

    • Provide technical guidance and hands-on support for device assembly and product kitting operations, including line setup, changeovers, and line clearance.

    • Ensure accurate and timely completion of production documentation, including batch records, equipment logs, calibration records, and maintenance documentation.

    • Operate, set up, and maintain production equipment as required.

    • Assist with troubleshooting and conduct root cause analysis for nonconformances and deviations related to manufacturing processes.

    • Collaborate with QA/QC teams to ensure alignment with product specifications, regulatory requirements (e.g., USDA), and company quality standards throughout the manufacturing process.

    • Work with the Purchasing department to order raw materials and supplies to support production.

    • Participate in cross-functional project teams as needed.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor of Science degree in relevant scientific discipline or an equivalent qualification.

    • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in a lateral flow manufacturing environment.

    • Experience working in a USDA-regulated environment preferred.

    • Strong technical knowledge of lateral flow components, including nitrocellulose membranes, conjugates, sample pads, and fundamental lateral flow scientific principles and related manufacturing processes.

    • Hands-on expertise in lateral flow product assembly technology with a strong understanding of lateral flow materials and assay design.

    • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing issues using a methodical, detail-oriented approach.

    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.

    • Working knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

    • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including staff, supervisors, and QA/QC personnel.

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

    • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality standards.
