This involves conducting thorough on-site inspections and investigations, including looking into instances of abuse, neglect, or exploitation, within Texas home health agencies and hospices to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.

In this dynamic role, a Nurse III has the flexibility to be mobile and perform tasks both on-site and in office settings. Working under the guidance of a program manager, a Nurse III conducts on-site inspections, investigates complaints and incidents, and conducts annual surveys in facilities to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations at both federal and state levels. This includes areas such as admissions, resident rights, care quality assessments, and the provision of medical services.
Effective communication with internal and external parties is crucial for exchanging information, addressing inquiries, and resolving issues within long-term care facilities in Texas.
Conducting exit meetings with facility staff to discuss findings and deficiencies, documenting inspection reports, and providing narratives to support regulatory outcomes.
Revisiting healthcare facilities to confirm the rectification of previously identified violations. Also, carrying out quality checks on various documents to maintain standards.
Potential supervision of team members during inspections and contributing expertise to survey teams in relevant areas.
May be required to provide testimony in hearings or court proceedings to share insights on policies, procedures, findings, or activities.
Knowledge Skills Abilities:
Understanding the challenges and needs of vulnerable populations within healthcare settings (e.g., elderly, mentally ill, developmentally disabled).
Proficiency in interpersonal communication.
Experience in quality assurance monitoring, program evaluation, and investigations.
