Position Overview

Hanlin Design is seeking a designer to support residential, mixed-use, and adaptive reuse interior architecture projects across all phases, from concept development through documentation and implementation.

This role requires strong technical ability, design sensitivity, and the capacity to work across conceptual and production-focused tasks within a small studio environment.

The designer will work closely with the principal and consultants to develop coordinated drawings, models, and material strategies that support cohesive, well-resolved interiors.

Responsibilities
Assist in design development across residential, mixed-use, and adaptive reuse projects
Contribute to conceptual design studies through iterative drawing, modeling, and spatial testing
Produce architectural drawings, interior plans, elevations, sections, and details across project phases
Develop and maintain accurate 3D models to support both design and documentation workflows
Generate renderings and visualizations using Enscape or comparable tools for internal and client presentations
Model custom furniture and interior elements as required for design development and documentation
Support material research, finish selection, and specification development
Coordinate with consultants, vendors, and internal team members to maintain alignment across disciplines
Prepare presentation decks, drawings, and visual materials for client and studio use
Assist with drawing set organization, revisions, and file management across concurrent projects
Participate in site visits, field verification, and project documentation as required
Required Skills and Qualifications
Professional degree in Architecture or Interior Design
Strong working knowledge of Rhino and Adobe Creative Suite
Experience producing drawing sets and coordinating with consultants
Proficiency in Enscape or comparable visualization tools
Understanding of interior detailing, millwork, and material applications
Ability to translate conceptual direction into precise technical drawings and models
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Clear visual and verbal communication within a collaborative studio environment
Ability to work independently while maintaining alignment with studio standards
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with high-end residential, boutique commercial, or adaptive reuse projects
Familiarity with furniture design, custom detailing, and fabrication coordination
Experience working in small studio environments with direct principal collaboration
Sensitivity to material, light, and spatial composition within a detail-driven design practice
Working Style Expectations
High level of precision and accountability in drawings and deliverables
Ability to manage multiple project timelines simultaneously
Flexibility to move between conceptual and technical tasks as project needs shift
Consistent attention to detail in documentation, modeling, and material selection
