    ** Mixer Truck Driver**

    Coralville, IA 52241

    **Role and Responsibilities**

    **Primary On the Job Duties**

    **Start of Day:**

    Reports for duty at least 10 minutes prior to assigned shift with proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and attire as per Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

    Performs pre-trip safety inspection of truck in accordance with DOT regulations, including checking fluids such as oil, antifreeze and lights; reports any maintenance issues to the mechanic before getting dispatched and turns in completed paperwork as directed

    **Loading and Mixing Concrete at the Plant**

    Mount truck and drive to concrete loading station; as per SOP fill truck with water

    Ensure receipt of delivery ticket

    When truck is fully loaded, hoses down the outside of the truck

    **Delivery to the Construction Site:**

    Communicates in a timely manner with the Dispatcher/Plant Manager, Project Manager and/or person in charge of the construction site as to truck status and location

    Drive truck in a safe manner as per DOT requirements and/or company SOPs

    Operate drum with proper rotation speed in accordance with the concrete specifications and mixing instructions as applicable

    Maneuvers mixer truck throughout construction site and dispenses concrete as instructed

    May add admixtures/additional water as instructed

    Ensures proper hosing down of truck at the designated washout location prior to returning back to the plant; may return extra concrete to designated area as directed

    **Returning to the Plant:**

    + Communicates with Dispatch/Plant Manager and notifies return upon leaving of the construction site

    + Washes and cleans truck upon return of plant; empties truck for block creation and/or reclamation area, or as directed

    + Ensures upon close of day, truck is with filled with fuel and performs post-trip safety check as per DOT regulations and company SOPs

    + Completes any required paperwork and turns into dispatch office

    Other Duties:

    May drive dump trucks, side dumps, loaders, water trucks and/or trailers

    May perform other related duties as assigned to include assisting at the ready-mix plant

    Safety Related:

    + Promotes and supports safety programs as outlined in company and regulatory Standard Operating Procedures (SOPS) and requirements as applicable

    **Other Rules and Policies:**

    Promotes the enforcement of company policies and procedures

    **Qualifications and Education Requirements:**

    + Must have a valid Iowa DOT Certified Commercial Drivers License (CDL) Class B with Air Brakes, Class A is preferred

    + Must be able to pass a drug/alcohol screening, physical and background check

    + Must have and maintain a satisfactory driving record in accordance with federal and state motor carrier regulations and company policies

    + Able to work various and extended work hours during day, night, and/or weekend hours, at various locations. Work hours vary daily according to the customer demand

    + Must have strong work ethics, reliable, honest, detail orientated, well organized and a self-starter

    **Language Requirements:**

    The primary language of Metro Pavers, Inc. is English. Excellent communication skills are defined as the ability to:

    Actively listen for total comprehension

    Ask questions that enhance the understanding of a certain topic

    Relay information and/or instruction in a descriptive and understandable fashion in both written and verbal forms

    Understand and abide by existing and updated safety regulations

    **Preferred Skills / Key Competencies:**

    Ability to work over 40 hours per week including Saturdays and Sundays and nights if needed for the job

    Demonstrates good communication skills and teamwork

    Reliability, attention to detail, and stress tolerance

    Ability to lift 50 lbs. regularly

    Ability to work in all environmental job conditions (hot/cold weather, rainy, dusty, etc.)

    Foster positive communications and relationships with team members

    **Physical Requirements:**

    The requirements listed below are representative of the skills and abilities required. Metro Pavers, Inc. requires a pre-employment physical for all heavy-lifting positions before employment may begin.     This position will spend the majority of the working day on job site(s) which requires:

    Regularly lifting up to 50 lbs. which may include

    Occasional twisting, pulling, climbing, and carrying heavy objects up to 20% of the time

    Sitting, Standing, climbing, and/or walking for up to 8 hours a day

    Occasionally reading fine print, viewing indirect and direct sunlight, and performing some typing duties on a smartphone and/or tablet

    Being exposed to outdoor elements (hot and cold) for up to 8 hours a day

    Occasionally working from levels over 4 feet from the ground (such as a ladder)

    Visual requirements-must be able to pass a normal visual acuity test, must not have any night time driving restrictions on drivers license
