    Key Responsibilities:
    • Communicate effectively with production department employees to understand their issues related to the manufacturing equipment.
    • Analyze Pareto's of downtime records to identify highest frequency breakdowns to understand how to prevent reoccurrence.
    • Review opportunities to implement new technology to increase quality, decrease downtime, and increase throughput.
    • Resolve complex issues with manufacturing equipment to include servo drives, Siemens PLC, process controls, LDR, SCL, Statement lists, FBD, and read electrical drawings.
    • Design and implementation of controls systems to maximize machine productivity and product quality.
    • Ability to manage complex automation related projects from cradle to grave.
    • Updates schematics (electrical, hydraulic, PLC)
    • Lead and mentor less experienced control technicians and maintenance personnel.
    • Lend Siemens, electrical and automation technical support to the MDF plant when extra assistance is needed.
    • Interface with vendors, outside technical support and contractors as needed.
    • Create PM's that will be used to optimize automation and control systems.
    • Call ins after normal hours to assist shift maintenance resolve complex issues if assistance is needed.
    • Proficiently diagnose complex machine and process issues with the equipment, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic and controls.
    • Understand complete set up of critical machine settings.
    • Analyze process issues and understand how to resolve by repairing or adjusting to factory OEM specifications and then put in solutions to prevent reoccurrence.
    • Repair the issue in a timely manner with reasonable cost.
    • Properly charge parts to the correct work order and cost center.
    • Observe the operation of all equipment for issues that might cause breakdown or loss of efficiency.
    Professional Experience:
    • Minimum Five years of experience with PLC controls. Siemens preferred.
    • Minimum Five years of experience with Servo drives, process controls.
    Education and specialized skills profile:
    • Minimum two-year technical degree related to manufacturing controls. Computer/Software based Engineering degree preferred. Can be substituted with 8 years of related Experience.
    • Basic computer skills to be able to use programs for work order and parts management.
    • Lean six sigma experience. (Six Sigma green belt or higher preferred)
    • Attained level 3 (top) of possible 1-3 levels in Siemens programming.
    • Working knowledge of and ability to work with vision systems.
    • Working knowledge of and ability to work with Lenze and SEW drives.
    • Working knowledge of and ability to work within Siemens software, Sematic Manager, TIA Portal, WinCC.
    • Working knowledge of Allen Bradley (AB) PLC software.
    • Working knowledge of and ability to program HMI's.
    • Working knowledge of and ability to work on the communications between the Kuka robots and the PLC.
    • Working knowledge of and ability to work within Profibus, Profinet, Device Net, Ethernet.
    • Ability to use standard test equipment, not limited to VOM's and meggers.
    Environment and Behavioral profile:
    • Must be able to work independently and make decisions and complete tasks with minimal or no supervision.
    • Must be able to work with a diverse work force in a team environment.
    • Candidate will be exposed to loud noise that may exceed 87 decibels.
    • Candidate must be able to complete task under extreme hot climate temperatures internally on the shopfloor, which can exceed 110 degrees F.
    • The Automation Engineer will be subjected to all environmental elements such as exposure to high/low temperatures, sun/rain, confined spaces etc.
    • The Assistant Production Operator must be able to complete daily tasks under little to no supervision, should have the ability to multitask in a challenging environment, making decisions quickly with clear consistent communication
    Linguistic Profile:
    • Swiss Krono embraces the diversity of languages, but most, if not all, communication verbally and written is preferred in English to successfully complete the appropriate scope of work.
    Mobility and Physical Requirement profile:
    • Work location is Barnwell. This job operates in a manufacturing environment.
    • Travel required for training.
    • Be expected to read, talk, hear, stand, walk, use hands and fingers. Employee will be required to perform climbing stairs, squatting, kneeling, or driving lift truck duties at variable frequency.
    • There is occasional lifting that may require handling of components which can weigh up to approximately 50 lbs.
    • The employee must occasionally climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
    • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
    • While performance the job duties of this job, the employee regularly operator HMI, communicate by talking on radio, and walk constantly throughout 12 hours shift.
    • This is a full-time position, which works day shift Monday through Friday.

    • Internal: PT, KT, FUB, MDF, Shipping, Maintenance, Administrative.
    • External: Vendors, Consultants, Service Contractors, and other Krono Swiss Plants.
