Job description
Job DescriptionArea Operations Manager, responsible for overall direction and oversight of four Hazard Category II nuclear facilities within the SRTE portfolio, including Tritium Extraction Facility, H-Area New Manufacturing, Materials Test Facility, and H-Area Old Manufacturing, along with all operational activities that occur on the SRTE 29-acre campus.
SRTE Operational Activities in addition to facility operation include:Conops Excellence, Reservoir Surveillance, and Emergency Preparedness.
Oversee all facility operation and operational support functions to ensure facilities deliver on NNSA mission objectives, while maintaining compliance with safety envelope, laws, regulations, and orders.
Lead and schedule execution of all mission, program, and infrastructure initiatives within these facilities, to include ownership of support organizational functions such as Engineering, Training, Radiological Controls, Maintenance, Project Controls, Nuclear Criticality, and Weapons Production.
Establishes performance standards and ensures adherence to these standards.Required Qualifications
- Twenty or more years of experience (YOE) as an individual contributor in one or more of the roles managed plus nine or more years of experience (YOE) in a relevant management role, OR Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field plus fifteen or more years of experience (YOE) in one or more of the roles managed, OR Master's Degree in a relevant field plus twelve or more years of experience (YOE) in one or more of the roles managed
- Equivalencies to experience and education requirements will be considered. Some Operations positions have higher education levels as required by DOE Order 426.2.
Q Clearance. Experience overseeing Hazard Category II Nuclear Facility Operations. Tritium experience preferred.

Discipline Description
Nuclear Operations Management personnel provide overall direction and oversight of facility Operations and operations Support functions to ensure strategies and schedules accomplish facility contract milestones while maintaining compliance with the safety envelope, laws and regulations and DOE Orders.
They lead and schedule the execution of all missions, programs, and initiatives within nuclear facilities, to include ownership of support organizational functions such as Engineering, Training, Radiological Controls, Maintenance, Project Controls, Nuclear Criticality, Quality Assurance, Nuclear Material Control & Accountability, Construction, and Weapons Production.
They establish performance standards and ensure adherence to the standards in the facilities.Career Band Description

Job Family DescriptionNuclear Operations - Nuclear Operations personnel are directly involved in supporting core nuclear activities in the H-Canyon, HB-Line, K-Area, L-Area, E-Area, Deactivation, SRTE, and SRPPF.
SOP and Exempt M&O employees must work in one of these facilities and satisfy at least one of the following characteristics:Directly handle and/or produce nuclear material
Manage individuals that directly handle and/or produce nuclear material
Manage individuals that oversee the handling or production of nuclear materials
Perform ancillary operational duties that directly impact safe and secure nuclear operations, which include Lockout/Tagout Coordination, Maintenance Coordination, Outage Coordination, Fire Protection Coordination, Reservoir Surveillance, Waste Certification, Control Room/Facility Lab/Processing, and Gas Processing
