    Senior Backend Engineer at HistoWiz

    We're on the lookout for a skilled Senior Backend Engineer to join our team. You'll be tasked with creating, deploying, and maintaining software applications that cater to the needs of our team and clients. The ideal candidate must possess a deep understanding of the software development lifecycle, solve intricate problems, communicate effectively, lead teams, and thrive in a fast-paced and evolving environment.     About the Role

    As a valuable team member, you'll collaborate closely with our VP of Engineering, a group of talented engineers, and dedicated product managers. Our advanced frontend SPA heavily relies on RESTful endpoints, ensuring a smooth user experience.

    In this key role, you'll contribute significantly to developing innovative solutions for medical researchers and shaping the strategic direction of our product. We're seeking someone who can independently prioritize tasks, features, and optimizations to deliver the best outcomes for our users and stakeholders.

    Our Tech Stack:

    • Frontend: ReactJS, Material-UI, JSS, Webpack, GatsbyJS
    • Backend: Python 3.8, Django (RESTful APIs), TensorFlow, PostgreSQL
    • DevOps: Docker, Ansible, CircleCI
    • GitHub, Google Cloud Platform, Netlify, CloudFlare

    We strive to keep our stack up to date to minimize technical debt.

    Responsibilities

    • Develop scalable, testable, and maintainable code for front and back end
    • Collaborate with customers and internal teams to prioritize product roadmap features
    • Make crucial architectural decisions and explore new technologies
    • Implement features for LIMS, our internal laboratory information system
    • Construct reliable data pipelines for machine learning algorithms
    • Offer technical support to the team
    • Manage automated deployments and web server maintenance

    Requirements

    • 5+ years of Django/Python experience
    • Ideal to have front end proficiency in React, but not mandatory
    • Experience with Google Cloud Platform or similar providers
    • Full-stack web development experience
    • Leadership skills and ability to see projects through completion
    • Effective technical communication to both technical and non-technical audiences
    • Based in or willing to relocate to NYC

    Desired Skills

    • Previous exposure to early-stage startups
    • Knowledge of computer vision, data mining, or statistics
