    An agency located in Montgomery, Alabama is looking for a Programmer Analyst for a 6 month contract with possibility of conversion to direct hire.

    Please note that this position requires onsite work.

    Pay rate range: $35.00/hr - $42.00/hr

    Requirements and skills

    • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent work experience
    • Required minimum of 8 years of verifiable RPG programming experience on AS400 systems within the last 12-15 years
    • Software languages: CL/400, RPG/400, ILE RPG, SQL RPGLE
    • Proficiency in Query 400, Aldon Change Management Software, ImagePlus
    • Operating systems: AS400
    • Screen Design Aid (SDA) with extensive work with sub files.
    • Ability to analyze complex situations and make sound decisions.
    • Competent in all phases of applications systems analysis and programming activities
    • Proficient in Windows and MS Office Tools
    • Ability to learn current software systems and tools as they relate to the team.
    • Understanding of business requirements and assistance with documentation using MS Office Suite
    • Troubleshooting and problem resolution skills

    Responsibilities

    • Perform complex analysis, design, development, and maintenance using specified tools.
    • Develop system and program documentation.
    • Test modifications and enhancements to ensure system integrity.
    • Debug and resolve production problems using defined system development processes and standards.
    • Transfer knowledge and skills to junior level programmers.
    • Follow technical direction provided by team lead and technical experts.
    • Develop new or enhancement programs based on technical specifications.
    • Collaborate with Business Analysts for testing and training.
    • Analytical and problem-solving skills for resolving technical issues and software bugs.
    • Maintenance and enhancement of existing applications
    • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
    • Multitasking capabilities in a fast-paced environment
    • Perform all or part of full life cycle development process with an emphasis on developing business applications.
    • Support existing applications, modifying/enhancing them and current needs, and implementing the changes necessary as the needs of the business unit changes.
    • Develop and document workarounds for functional issues.
    • Troubleshoot real-time production issues.
    • responsible for supporting testing of enhancements and fixes.
    • Contribute towards enterprise-wide metrics collection and participate in action plans.
    • Conduct in-depth analysis of Service Requests raised by clients.
    • Ensure static data/configuration/set ups are accurate.
    • Document new/changed operational procedures.
    • Participation in peer review processes
    • Respond in a flexible manner and reprioritize work as situations change.
