    Job Summary


    As a Power Plant Operator you will become proficient in the operation and use of equipment assigned to the position.

    You will operate, monitor, and log condition; check and maintain proper lubrication, pressures and flows of Power Plant Auxiliary Equipment, pumps, fans, steam turbines, electric motors, and air compressors.

    Be proficient in the operation of the water purification equipment (Demineralizer) system, including demineralizer wastewater neutralization system.

    This position will monitor and maintain holding tank levels, and quality, including condensate tanks, DI water storage tanks, and deaerator storage tanks.

    You will calculate equations to maintain proper chemical solutions for treatment of the boiler water, as directed by Quality Control Department and interface with equipment computer control systems.

    The position will be required to access, log, and trend data from computers.

    You will analyze, interpret computer data, and communicate recommendations on equipment and systems operations, both verbally and in written reports.

    Remove ashes from coal fired boiler and through automated ash removal systems.

    You will assist the other Power Plant Operators in the operations of the plant boilers and complete training program as outlined in the Wade Utilities Skills Milestone program.

    Maintain cleanliness of assigned areas. This position will perform other duties as assigned, i.e. work assignments in plant maintenance, coal crew and other departments, during plant reduced operations requirements.

    Wade Utility Plant is a 24 hour/day, 7 day a week operation.
    Various shifts during training.
    Must be willing to work any shift, weekends, and holidays.
    Must be available for call back operations.
    Overtime as assigned is required.


    What We're Looking For:

    Education and Experience:
    High School Degree or GED required
    One (1) year of experience in the operation of some type of industrial equipment. The operation of fans, compressors, pumps, farm machinery, or other relevant types of rotating, stamping, or moving equipment
    The equipment may be electric, steam, hydraulic or air driven. Must pass departmental Training Skills Inventory 1 in first 90 days of employment
    Valid Driver's License required


    Skills Needed:
    Proven basic math skills, verbal and written communication skills required
    Demonstrated mechanical aptitude required
    Ability to take advanced departmental training to learn other positions in the power plant required
    Must be able to work from heights up to 100 feet and lift and carry 25 lbs. to 50 lbs. frequently and up to 60 lbs. occasionally


    Preferred:
    Ability to perform basic computer operations required, knowledge and experience entering or retrieving word and or excel documents
    Knowledge of either steam, electric, hydraulic of air powered equipment
    Knowledge of water treatment systems, including chemical measuring/handling
