    Job Summary

    The Manager for the Migrant Education Program designs and implements districtwide programs and services to enhance academic achievement and success for Migrant Education students, as identified by program, district, and school goals. The Manager provides training and support to school-based staff and outreach to parents and community partners. This position has a retirement association with the Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS).

    Job Requirements
    The following are required:
  • A bachelor's degree in education, counseling, social work, human services, project management, or related field.

  • A master's degree in education, project management, or related field.
  • Project management or program coordination experience.
  • Experience working with diverse populations.
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated use of technology systems for organization and maintaining accurate records.
  • Knowledge of different cultures and various communication and learning styles.
  • Ability to be self-directed, prioritize tasks, and work independently.
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively on a team.
  • Effective networking skills and strategies with district, school, and community partners.
  • Ability to assimilate and apply new knowledge and routines quickly and accurately.
  • Ability to coordinate programs, activities, meetings and trainings that meet the identified needs of staff and students.
  • Willingness to follow a flexible work schedule, which may change periodically to accommodate delivery of services.
  • Essential Job Functions
  • Develops, provides, and facilitates training and support to Migrant Education Success Coaches.
  • Supports Migrant Education Program goals of graduation, school readiness, general school support, and social service referrals.
  • Coordinates Migrant Education school-based programs, such as Family Engagement Workshops, Preschool Activities, Literacy Nights, Community Resource Fairs, In-Service Day Activities, Credit Recovery, Tutoring, Summer Programs, etc.
  • Develops and implements programs and services meant to improve attendance, grades, on track (F's), test scores, behavior, and graduation rate of Migrant Education students.
  • Works directly with various district departments, schools, federal programs, community partners, and other personnel to address program needs to maximize opportunities for students and families
  • Ensures accurate tracking of services including logging Migrant services as they are provided.
  • Determines effectiveness of programming through use of surveys, feedback, and other data.
  • Contributes to strategic planning for the Migrant Education Program, including grant writing and reporting, Comprehensive Needs Assessment, and Service Delivery Plan.
  • Develops systems of efficiency and accountability within the Migrant Education Program to adequately provide services to students and families.
  • Develops outreach to Out of School Youth to reengage with school and earn a high school diploma or alternate pathway to college/career opportunities.
  • Attends professional development to align with state and district initiatives as well as best practices for the Migrant Education population.
  • Provides outreach to community partners and serves as a liaison for the district Migrant Education Program to advertise and promote the program and assist in identification and recruitment of Migrant Education students.
  • Maintains positive relationships with families, students, and staff.
  • Maintains organization and completes projects and tasks in a timely manner.
  • Physical/Mental Demands
    The physical demands of this job require frequent standing, walking, sitting, speaking, and hearing. Specific visual abilities are also required. The employee is regularly required to reach with his/her hands and arms and occasionally lift items weighing less than 40 lbs. Additionally, the employee must be able to communicate by oral and written means in an appropriate business manner and have cognitive skills to understand instructions, readily recall facts and details, handle conflict, and make effective decisions under pressure. The employee must have the ability to effectively manage the stress of working with students, parents, and other employees representing diverse cultures, personalities, and work styles in a dynamic work environment.

    Work is performed in a professional environment with a wide variety of individuals having differing functions, personalities and abilities, including working with diverse groups of people in a variety of different settings.

    While performing the duties of this job the employee may be regularly exposed to a video display. The employee may be exposed to outdoor weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
