We seek energetic, curious teachers who want to inspire students to think scientifically. Teachers work collaboratively using a custom curriculum which focuses on the skills and fundamental understandings associated with science. Faculty are expected to pursue professional development opportunities and expand their teaching portfolio both within and outside the science department.

We moved into a new facility in 2015. The Hajjar STEM Center houses the Science and Mathematics departments, complete with 8 science labs, 7 mathematics classrooms, and an innovation lab for robotics and other programs. This 30,000 square foot facility was designed with purposeful collaboration between the architects and the faculty and represents the best in planning for the future of science and mathematics education.

Therefore, we seek a creative science teacher who will be challenged and captivated by the possibilities of forwarding our curricula in a building designed to facilitate innovation, expansion, and growth.

Responsibilities: Teaching four sections of science. Additional responsibilities include being a student advisor, attendance at periodic faculty meetings, weekly planning meetings with other science teachers, and other campus-wide supervisory duties.

Qualifications: The ideal candidate must have a strong background in chemistry and biology and be open to expanding their teaching. Since we are a 1:1 laptop school, we expect candidates to be willing and able to integrate computer applications into the curriculum. Individuals who apply should be extremely responsible, highly motivated, and excited by the potential of teaching in an integrated program. Experience in teaching at this level and an advanced degree are preferred.

In addition to teaching, our faculty members are involved in a variety of activities critical to the education of students at Dwight-Englewood School. Strength in coaching and leadership of co-curricular activities is an important qualification in the hiring process.
