    Business HR Manager, Clinical Development Operations

    The Manager, Business Human Resources (BHR) is an HR business partner position that will support the Clinical Development Operations team, specifically the Clinical Site Management organization, under AbbVie's Global Therapeutics organization. The person will influence and support business decisions and ensure the people strategy supports AbbVie's overall business success in supporting our patients.

    The Manager, BHR responsibilities will include performance management, employee relations, talent development, organizational effectiveness, change management, HR analytics, compensation planning and facilitation of talent acquisition. Responsibilities may be expanded to include additional client assignments.

    This is a hybrid position that sits at AbbVie's Lake County, IL location.

    Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Design and implement HR strategies in support of business priorities.
  • In partnership with Centers of Excellence, design and deliver HR programs to support People Strategy & Organizational Goals.
  • Lead and execute core HR processes including performance management, employee relations, compensation planning, talent development, organizational effectiveness, change management, and facilitate talent acquisition for client group.
  • Coach/mentor and consult senior leaders regarding leadership development, succession planning, and talent management.
  • Act as an advisor and thought partner for business leaders to enhance talent pipeline and increase effectiveness of the organization, foster employee engagement, collaboration, and teamwork.
  • Partner and collaborate with Centers of Excellence and HR Operations functions within AbbVie to identify and implement appropriate solutions for client needs.

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Human Resources or Business Management.
  • 6+ Years of HR Business Partner OR 2+ years of HR Business Partner and 4+ years of related HR experience, preferably supporting multiple organizational functions or business units.
  • Demonstrated success of functional HR roles/responsibilities and impact on the business.
  • Work experience within a sophisticated, complex corporate environment, as defined by size (10,000+ employees), geographic presence and/or organizational structure.
  • Ability to overnight travel 10% of the time.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, carries executive presence with business leaders.
  • End-to-end project management experience. Effective direct client group and cross-functional stakeholder management.
  • Ability to garner buy-in and enable transformational change in a matrixed environment.
  • Constantly works with an enterprise view, aligned to functional and franchise strategy, while delivering outcomes and driving execution.
  • Demonstrates leadership competencies - has the potential and desire for growth.
  • Asks thoughtful questions, influences without authority, and pushes back (appropriately) with senior leaders.
  • Demonstrated reasoning abilities and sound judgment, resourceful, well organized, and results oriented.
  • Strong communicator verbally and in writing; strong presentation skills; proficient in Microsoft Excel and HRIS systems.
  • Significant career progression within an organization or organizations prior.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Master's degree preferred, or equivalent.

    • PHR or SHRM-CP Certification preferred.

    • Knowledge of regulations and standards affecting the business preferred.

    • Demonstrated understanding of organizational development activity preferred.
