    The Hartford's Personal Lines Product organization is seeking a Director of Learning. The Director will establish the Leadership Development Program (LDP) career pathway and will create and maintain a strong training curriculum for new hires as well as experienced Product teammates, with a focus towards upskilling to harness emerging technology and analytical capabilities.

    The Director will be knowledgeable re: insurance, product management, and pricing topics, have strong organizational skills and attention to detail, and will be able to influence subject matter experts across the company's network to create & orchestrate value-added training. This role reports to the AVP, of Product and will be based in our Hartford, CT Home Office, on a hybrid basis (Tuesday-Thursday).

    Responsibilities:
    • Lead the LDP program to hire and train future-ready talent. Directly manage a team of LDP participants and manage training across the Product team, including State Management, Pricing, and Product Development.
    • Expand talent pipeline and acquisition strategies to attract and onboard high-caliber Pricing and Product Management talent.
    • Build a comprehensive LDP learning curriculum which progresses from classroom-style training into meaningful on-the-job training, covering all topics needed for a successful career in Product. The scope of training will include topics on insurance pricing theory and application, product management skills, data and analytical techniques and general insurance knowledge.
    • Facilitate career placement from the LDP program into established teams. Use alumni feedback to continuously improve our hiring and training approach.
    • Update and improve our onboarding, training, and process documentation, driving consistent best practices through the organization.
    • Create a continuing education program for experienced Product employees to address knowledge gaps and provide training to develop the skills needed to leverage increasingly sophisticated tools and capabilities.
    • Build dashboard and provide regular communication to senior leaders on program health, and performance of participants and graduates. Gather input from key partners to create a clear and compelling strategy for talent development within Product.
    • Directly manage LDP participants, including workload management and performance assessment.
    • Handle ad hoc Pricing or State Management requests, as capacity allows.
    Qualifications
    • At least 5 years of experience in the P&C insurance industry, with relevant experience in Product Management or Pricing. Personal Lines experience is preferred.
    • A strong understanding of Personal Lines insurance products, coverages, and distribution. Familiar with Pricing concepts and tools, including indications, rating engines, and rate/rule manuals.
    • Excellent communication and influencing skills. Ability to assess the knowledge base of an audience and tailor trainings to meet their specific needs.
    • Solid partnership management and collaboration skills. Ability to influence and accomplish work through subject matter experts. Regularly solicit feedback and use it to improve performance.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a solid business and financial acumen. Familiarity with financial statements (income statement, 10K, annual statement) and actuarial concepts (indications, loss development, credibility).
    • Ability to build and lead a high-performing team while developing an external talent pipeline.
    • Experience developing and delivering training content is required.
    • Strong MS Office skills are required. Experience with Tableau or other data tools is desirable.
    • Bachelor's degree is required.
    Compensation

    The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

    $126,800 - $190,200
