Sewing Machine Operator

About the Job:

The Sewing Machine Operator will be responsible for performing various tasks related to garment alteration and manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Hemming pants, altering sleeve length, and performing minor alterations on uniform garments.
2. Marking, measuring, and cutting garments with precision.
3. Ironing and packaging finished garments.
4. Assisting with embroidery trimming as needed.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you should have:

• A high school diploma or equivalent.
• Four or more years of previous experience in garment alteration and manufacturing, including proficiency in using an overlock machine, blind stitch machine, single needle machine, industrial steam iron with boiler, scissors, seam ripper, and measuring tape.
• Computer skills, particularly in email, basic word processing, and database lookups.
• Strong hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
• The ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
• Basic English reading, writing, and speaking skills.
• The capacity to remain organized and maintain a clean workspace.

Working Conditions:

This role requires occasional lifting of 10 pounds or less (less than 15% of the time), primarily at waist level, with some above and below waist. You must be able to sit for extended periods at a sewing machine or other related equipment and stand for up to 10% of the time. The position is located within a working warehouse with regular temperature shifts, and some computer use is required.

Compensation:

$19-$20 per hour for Sewing Machine Operator I and $22 per hour for Seamstress II.
