Essential Job Functions:
Ability to interact and respond with patient various patient behavior in a therapeutic, gentle and friendly manner
Communicates reassurances and explanations consistently
Adapts nursing procedures to meet the needs for treatment of various types of patients
Assists in the maintenance and handling of special equipment and instruments
Appropriately & safely positions patients while under care
Carries out surgical asepsis and safely administers medications for all procedures
Prepares and cleans operating room suites before and after cases
Protects patient's right to privacy
Sensitive to patient needs
Ability to set up for surgical procedures
Accepts full responsibility and accountability for care of instruments/ equipment before, during and after procedures, including cleaning and processing of instruments
Ability to follow written procedures for steam sterilization
Knows responsibilities and the necessity for chemical and biological monitoring of sterilization
Accurately records, handles, and labels specimens
Anticipates the needs of the surgeon during intraoperative phase
Maintains composure and appropriately responds to patients in an emergency or physically distressful situation
Ability to create documentation that meets current standards, policies and procedures and in a timely manner
Highly motivated and able to work independently
Ability to perform lab testing per lab policies and procedures
Ability to interpret results of test take appropriate action on test results
Knowledge of storage, care and use of each specific cartridge
Knowledge of quality control testing monthly or with each new shipment and proficient testing
Secondary Job Functions:
Provides innovative input into the development of the hospital environments and its processes
Participates in facility performance improvement activities
Creates and maintains policy and procedures to State and Federal regulations
Maintains policy and procedures in relation to hospital/ clinic regulations
Requirements:
Working Conditions:
This position works in varied environments including medical office, acute care facilities, operating rooms and recovery rooms, as well as potential for off premise work and travel.
Physical
Requirements:
This position is primarily an action position requiring walking, bending, stooping, crawling, squatting and lifting up to 50 pounds. At times must lift up to 75 pounds. Potential for long periods of standing. Must have visual acuity and manual dexterity to interface with the computer and other facility operating systems. Must have auditory acuity to effectively interact with patients and public.
Essential Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Current BLS certification
Minimum of one (1) year work experience in an operating room
Can interface with computers effectively
Learns new concepts and procedures quickly
Excellent organizational skills
Honesty

Ability to manage time and appropriately prioritize tasks and responsibilities
Ability to communicate effectively and in a professional and courteous manner with co-workers, vendors and other people in contact with

Preferred Qualifications:
