Buckeye Partners is currently seeking an Engineer II, Electrical & Instrumentation with experience in design engineering in the pipeline and terminals business, chemicals industry, or other process industries to join our growing teamRole Summary:The Engineer II, Electrical & Instrumentation role is an intermediate-level Engineer role responsible for supporting electrical & instrumentation engineering standards as well as working to continuously improve the technical content of our bids, estimates, project construction packages, and maintenance programs
Responsibilities & Essential Functions include:
Operations Support.
Provide response to field operations requests for technical assistance and guidance on application of electrical equipment and instrumentation in compliance with established company standards.
Design Projects. Support electrical design development by other internal staff or external consultants resulting in design packages on company projects.Types of designs include electrical power load studies, equipment coordination studies/circuit over-current protection, Arc Flash safety studies, raceway and conductor design and scheduling, grounding systems design and specification, lighting systems design and specification, communication systems, instrumentation selection, PLC control systems, tank gauging and metering design, etc.
Design Review. Conduct thorough design reviews and provide work instructions to designers and external design contractors relating to project design packages.Install Base Data Aggregation.
Assisting in the collection and review of as-built drawings and other archive data required in the permanent records of the company.
Help maintain install base data for electrical and instrumentation components to supplement the development of maintenance capital planning projects.Engineering Standards.
Produce, monitor, and improve engineering standards, recommended practices, standard designs, and specifications that form part of the company's design library.
Facility Assessments.Perform site visits to assess current electrical & instrumentation install base, improve facility documentation, and help prepare scope of work information for maintenance capital improvement projects.
And other duties as assigned.Position Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field required.5+ years' experience as a working design engineer in the pipeline and terminals business, chemicals industry, other process industry, or with an engineering firm serving these industries.
Up to 30% travelCertificates & Licenses:
Engineer-in-Training or Professional Engineer certification is highly desirable
Other Skills, Attributes and Abilities:
Excellent communication, both written and verbal, as well as strong organizational skills are paramount.
In order to be successful in this position, one must have excellent analytical skills to resolve business and operations problems and have good communication skills to consult with users to provide technical assistance.
Skillful in Microsoft Office suite of software, AutoCAD, engineering, and design software packages, including power modeling software (SKM and ETAP)Essential Functions:
This position requires the ability to safely and successfully perform essential job functions consistent with ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and or/quantitative productivity standards.
This role requires the ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards.
