The primary duties involve patrolling assigned areas along U.S. international land boundaries or coastal waterways; observing people crossing these areas suspiciously; conducting interviews with individuals attempting entry at official crossings by way of documentation inspections,
personnel searches, cargo examinations using standard detection methods (e.g., narcotics)
carrying out surveillance from concealed positions during daylight hours when weather conditions permit
