Responsibilities

•Prepares all necessary ingredients for meals by following instructions from the restaurant manager, head chef, or senior cook

•Peels, trims, slices, and divides raw ingredients, such as meat and produce, for meal preparation

•Constructs simple dishes, like salads and appetizers, as specified

•Creates condiments, dressings, and sauces

•Ensures compliance with safety and health regulations for the kitchen

•Helps to receive, inspect, and store new ingredients and supplies

•Performs additional tasks as needed

Qualifications

•Ability to learn sanitation and workplace safety regulations

•Working knowledge of food handling techniques, preparation, and cooking procedures

•Demonstrated ability to work quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced environment

•Strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively

•Committed to personal hygiene

•Physically capable of standing for extended periods of time and working in a kitchen setting

•Has the capacity to lift up to 15 pounds as necessary

•Flexibility to work evenings and special events, if needed

•Possesses manual dexterity to cut, dice, and perform other kitchen-related tasks
