Description

Establishes preferred supplier selection criteria based on supplier evaluations of price, quality, delivery, certifications, and compliance with procurement regulations. Develops new suppliers and supports new product development/strategic projects to ensure alignment with sourcing strategy. Procures material from suppliers following industry standards and internal policies and procedures. Support business needs with on-time purchasing, placing RFQs, processing purchase orders, updating purchase order status, accurate data entry in our MRP system, negotiating prices, etc. Works with cross functional teams to ensure material availability, make demand-based purchasing decisions, and support on-time delivery.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Purchase goods, materials, components, or services in line with specified cost, quality, and delivery targets.
• Negotiate contracts to improve prices and terms with suppliers.
• Prepare and maintain order schedules.
• Support the purchasing function and other relevant departments and communicate any supply problems which may impact business operations.
• Act as an interface between suppliers and other relevant departments on purchasing processes and new projects and activities.
• Ensure purchased items meet technical engineering and quality requirements.
• Build, maintain and manage supplier relationships and maintain good communications.
• Contact suppliers to resolve price, quality, delivery, or invoice issues.
• Update & ensure supplier data and product information (lead time, cost, etc.) is accurate on the ERP system.
• Monitor and advise on any purchasing and procurement issues which present risk or opportunity to the organization.
• Monitor industry trends, associated procurement strategies, and industry suppliers.
• Provide analysis on costs and review cost reduction activities.
• Prepare reports and updates when needed.
• Work closely with others in the organization and review opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Identify and implement purchasing related savings opportunities.
• Conduct research for new components and suppliers.
• Compile data relating to supplier performance to enable evaluation.
• Assess and evaluate supplier performance and compliance.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Strong computer skills with expertise in Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Understanding of ERP systems.
• BS degree in Business Operations, Engineering, Economics, Supply Chain, or related field preferred.
• Purchasing training and/or certification preferred.
• Ability to interpret technical requirements and understand manufacturing drawings.
• Ability to communicate and work with cross functional teams.
• Identify and develop new suppliers based on the needs and requirements of drawings.
• Work in a fast-paced environment, succeed in a multi-tasking environment to identify work priorities.
• 2-3 years of Strategic Sourcing experience
