- Supervise daily rotations for all direct service staff, including lifeguards, gate, and concessions employees.
- Ensure compliance with state, YMCA of WNC, and pool rules and regulations
- Facilitates daily upkeep tasks, such as cleaning and reporting needed repairs or safety concerns
- Coordinates daily pool patron experience and addresses any complaints.
- Provide daily direct supervision and guidance for lifeguards, gate attendants, and concessions staff.
- Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to ensure all pool activities adhere to safety regulations and organizational policies.
- Responsible for completing and filing incident reports, inventory, and pool usage reports
- Assists with training new staff and orienting them to the seasonal pool facilities
- Reports to the Aquatics Supervisor regarding pool equipment, supplies, and staffing levels, addressing any deficiencies as needed.
- Coordinate emergency response procedures and incident management protocols as required.
- Utilize standard software and hardware systems for administrative tasks, such as record-keeping and communication, only as needed.
- Provide coverage as needed in the event of inadequate staffing and lifeguard breaks.
- Fulfill any other duties as assigned related to the operation of the seasonal pool facility.
- Holds and maintains lifeguard certification
- Or obtains within 30 days of employment
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Minimum 24 months lifeguarding experience or two seasons working at an outdoor pool as a lifeguard preferred.
- Scheduling or management experience preferred.
- Ability to maintain certification-level physical and mental readiness
- Strong communication skills to convey expectations and safety regulations and coordinate with a diverse, multigenerational staff.
- Organizational skills to oversee various aquatic events and handle day-of-event operations.
- Adaptability to perform different roles (e.g., lifeguard, gate attendant, swim instructor) and address unexpected situations during events.
- Problem-solving skills to address inadequate staffing, lifeguard breaks, and unexpected challenges during operations.
- Hear noises and distress signals in an aquatic environment. (Significant background noise may exist in the aquatic environment.
- Remain alert without lapses in consciousness for extended periods of time.
- Lift 50+ lbs. from the floor and 200+ lbs. in rescue situations.
- Sit for extended periods of time, including in an elevated chair.
- Ascend and descend ladders
- Communicate verbally with good voice projection and clarity.
- Hear noises and distress signals in an aquatic environment. (Significant background noise may exist in the aquatic environment.)
- Observe all areas of the aquatic area, including the pool deck, water surface, and pool bottom
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Bend or stoop to reach various height levels

ABOUT THE ROLE
The Seasonal Pool Supervisor plays a pivotal role in fostering positive relationships with pool patrons while ensuring a safe and inclusive environment. Beyond overseeing daily operations and staff supervision, this role prioritizes coordinating patron experiences and promptly addressing any concerns or complaints. Collaborates with stakeholders to uphold regulations and manages emergency protocols.
