    The Speyer Legacy School seeks a dynamic, innovative, and passionate full-time First Grade Lower School Associate Teacher. The candidate hired will report to the Head of Lower School. The candidate will be responsible for collaborating with faculty and staff to teach in support of the school's mission and curricular goals. The ideal candidate possesses creative problem-solving skills, a sense of humor, enthusiasm for learning about designing innovative curriculum, and has strong interpersonal skills that allow them to cooperate and collaborate effectively with others.

    Duties & Responsibilities of the First Grade Associate Teacher

    • Work with First Grade Co-teachers and Content Area Teacher Specialists to support instruction and management.
    • Run small group instruction and assist Co-teachers in whole group instruction.
    • Accompany students to select Content Area Teacher Specialists classes.
    • Assist in implementing classroom procedures, routines, and building class community.
    • Support teachers in the daily life of the classroom, including classroom organization.
    • Support documentation systems for student profiles and progress to gather information for conferences and narrative reports.
    • After consulting with co-teachers, collaborate in communicating regularly with families about classroom happenings and student progress, class newsletters, and/or participate in parent-teacher conferences.
    • Participate in planning meetings and Child Study Meetings with the Student Support Team.
    • Attend faculty meetings and professional development. Knowledge, Skills, & Qualifications
      • Education: Bachelor's Degree in education or related field required. Master's Degree or working towards a master's preferred.
      • Work Experience: experience working with children, ideally in a school setting.
      • Communication Skills: strong oral and written communication skills that effectively capture life in the classroom. Engage respectfully with families and demonstrate sensitivity to cultures, values, configurations, and beliefs.
      • Collaborative Spirit: desire to learn and grow through productive collaboration with a team of teachers; bringing dispositions of humor, creativity, equanimity, and a comfort with giving and receiving feedback.

        The salary range for this position is $55,000 - $57,000 based on years of teaching experience and level of education.

        Hours

        7:45-3:45 Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, & Friday

        7:45-4:45 Tuesday for faculty meetings

        Attendance at evening events such as Curriculum Night, Admissions Open Door Event, and Graduation.

        As this is a professional position, some preparations will need to take place outside of regular school hours.
