    New Graduates
    New registered nurse (RN) graduates benefit from a comprehensive, personalized support system. All RNs in their first nursing role are invited to participate in a Nurse Residency Program alongside nursing orientation.

    Adult Surgical Stepdown is a medical/surgical inpatient unit that focuses on providing care for adults who are either preparing for, or recovering from, a surgical procedure.

    Our patient population is mostly surgical patients including orthopedic, urology, OBGYN, and general surgery, but we also see medical patients with infections, wounds, and chronic health issues.

    Our mission is to provide all our patients with safe and quality care. Our goal is to assist the patients in swift recovery and progression towards their baseline health.
    Nursing skills gained on this unit:
    Medical-Surgical Assessment Skills including Orthopedic Care.
    Skin and Wound Assessments, Intervention Implementation and Wound Maintenance.
    Optional training for Port-a-Cath use, PIV Ultrasound training, and Corpak insertion
    Strong foundational nursing skills
    Prioritization of care


    Unit Successes/Designations:

    Unit culture:
    Fosters an environment for learning by hosting skills fairs, and further education opportunities.
    Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
    Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
    Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
