    Position Summary Information

    Responsibilities Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive academic advisement and success support to assigned graduate students, including individualized degree planning and term-to-term registration guidance.
  • Interpret and communicate graduate program requirements, policies, academic standing/progression standards, and applicable institutional procedures.
  • Review and evaluate transcripts and prior graduate credit (as applicable), support program change requests, and assist with graduation readiness checks.
  • Proactively monitor student progress and initiate early outreach to students showing risk indicators (course performance concerns, registration holds, non-registration, probation, etc.).
  • Maintain accurate advising notes and student records in applicable systems; ensure consistent documentation and follow-up.
    • Outreach, Support, and Onboarding Responsibilities
  • Support graduate outreach initiatives in collaboration with Graduate Studies and academic departments (information sessions, webinars, campus visits, and targeted communications).
  • Coordinate and deliver onboarding services for newly admitted graduate students (welcome communications, next-step guidance, registration readiness, first-term planning, and orientation sessions).
  • Develop and implement structured onboarding/check-in touchpoints (pre-enrollment through first term) to improve yield, persistence, and student satisfaction.
  • Create or coordinate onboarding materials (checklists, guides, FAQs, email sequences, and quick-reference resources for programs).
  • Serve as a point of contact to connect graduate students with appropriate campus resources (financial aid, student accounts, tutoring/writing support, library services, accessibility services, counseling, etc.).
    • Collaboration, Data, and Reporting
  • Work collaboratively with other faculty and staff advisors, the Director of Academic Engagement, Registrar's Office, Graduate Studies, Admissions, and Student Business Services to provide fully coordinated services for prospective, incoming, and continuing graduate students.
  • Provide regular reports and insights on graduate advising activity and student success indicators (registration, persistence, credit momentum, holds, onboarding completion, etc.).
  • Participate in advising initiatives, registration events, and continuous improvement efforts to strengthen graduate student success.

  • Occasional evening/weekend availability may be required for interest meetings, onboarding, orientation, or registration events.
    • Qualifications Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's degree.
  • Experience working directly with students in an advising, admissions, enrollment, student success, or related support role.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and professionally (written and verbal) and build rapport with diverse student populations.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
    • Preferred Qualifications
    Educational specialist, or doctorate in a relevant field (higher education, student affairs, counseling, educational leadership, or related).
  • Experience advising graduate students and/or working with graduate program policies and processes.
  • Experience with student information systems and advising/CRM tools (, Banner, DegreeWorks, Slate, Salesforce, or similar).
  • Experience in outreach, event coordination, onboarding/orientation planning, and/or student communications campaigns.
