    Job Opportunity: Lab Technician - Coatings Team

    A well-established chemical manufacturer in Charlotte is seeking a Lab Technician to join their Coatings team. This role is vital for supporting the development and testing of innovative coating solutions within a dynamic chemistry lab environment.

    This is a long-term contract position offering an hourly pay rate of $20-$22 with benefits available.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Conduct chemical mixing, sample testing, and technical documentation.
    • Maintain the highest standards of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail.
    • Demonstrate strong work ethic, self-motivation, and the ability to operate with a high sense of urgency.
    • Work effectively both as part of a team and independently on various projects.
    • Adapt flexibly to changing priorities daily.

    Required Skills:

    • Proven laboratory experience, particularly in performing experiments and basic chemical mixing.
    • Familiarity with chemical instrumentation, compatibility, handling, and storage.
    • Experience in vendor management and technical documentation is advantageous.
    • Proficient in basic computer operations including email, MS Word, and MS Excel.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

    Education Requirements:

    • A high school diploma with a minimum of 6 years practical laboratory experience, or
    • An Associate's degree with at least 2 years of practical laboratory experience, or
    • A Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Physics, Engineering, or a related scientific field.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience in formulation and application testing of water-based binders and related technologies.
    • Knowledge of building envelope, construction adhesives, and/or nonwovens industry is a plus.

    Formula for Success:

    • Provide technical applications support to both internal and external customers, particularly in the Construction and Nonwovens industries.
    • Stay informed on product developments, testing methods, and industry standards in formulation and coatings.
    • Drive innovation and manage joint development projects with stakeholders.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Technical Service, R&D, Sales, and Marketing to develop optimized formulations.
    • Ensure compliance with EH&S and ISO quality standards, maintain laboratory equipment following 5S policies, and contribute to test method documentation.
