    Medical and Surgical Outpatient Clinics Resource Nurse at Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration in Boise, Idaho, United States Job Description Summary Boise VAMC (BVAMC) is an interdisciplinary teaching facility with service-lines serving medical, surgical, inpatients and outpatients, with an Emergency Department, and multiple community-based outpatient clinics (CBOC).

    There is a large outpatient psychiatric population, with admissions for medical co-morbidities. Home-Based Primary Care is provided in the veteran's home.

    Responsibilities The incumbent practices as an RN in the Surgery Specialty Clinic and/or ENT/Ortho Clinic within the Nursing Service Line.

    Trained staff may provide staffing coverage for other specialty areas and hospital as needed. Will be assigned responsibilities from the Charge Nurse of Surgery Specialty Clinic or ENT/Ortho.

    Duties include, but are not limited to:

    Accountable for coordinating the care of patients by establishing and maintaining mutual understanding between the different areas of care within the medical community.

    Maintaining clinic flow by checking patients in and out; Assisting providers with minor procedures 0oint injections, nasopharyngeal endoscopies, cystoscopies, minor surgeries - removing suspicious lesions of the skin, and minor wound management); Telephone triage; Suture removal; Obtaining medical histories and vital signs from patients; Stocking and cleaning of the clinic; Management of walk in patients; Functioning and ongoing collaboration between the patients, physicians, co-workers and other appropriate health care team members; Works in a supplementary and complementary role with the physician rather than duplicating and substituting actions; Assigned as a preceptor to new or less experienced staff and/or as charge nurse or assistant charge nurse; Involvement in department and hospital wide committees; Respond to patients and staff tactfully and effectively, both orally and in writing, in order to meet program objectives; Effectively deal with conflict and problems involving customers and staff in a constructive and appropriate manner; Serve both internal and external customers. This includes patients, family members, physicians, LIPS, nurses, volunteers and allied health professionals and VA employees; Interact with customers and co-workers in a courteous, tactful, and respectful manner; Provide customers with consistent information according to established policies and procedures; Ensure productivity is maintained at the established level for the program for which he/she is responsible; Handle conflict and problems relating to all customers i To view full details and how to apply, please login or create a Job Seeker account
