**Job Summary:**
The Environmental Health and Safety Manager responsible for implementing, training and maintaining the Environmental, Health and Safety program for all BioSpectra manufacturing facilities. This position is also responsible for identifying and implementing EH&S strategies, industrial hygiene, safety and chemical regulatory requirements, training on general safety, injury reductions and emissions/waste/water management, including all applicable regulatory and permitting and reporting requirements for EPA, DEP and OSHA.
**Essential Duties and Responsibilities:**
Builds and maintains an understanding of current federal, state, local and/or company regulations as related to EH&S and applicable to BioSpectra
Acts as a liaison between the company and federal, state and local safety, public health and environmental agencies as related to EH&S
Ensures that staff is kept fully informed of EH&S regulations and policies and works to ensure compliance with said regulations and policies
Authors Safety Data Sheets and labels for all chemicals manufactured and processed by BioSpectra and ensures all SDS documentation is available to BioSpectra Personnel
Authors and implements the emergency action plan and the Preparedness, Prevention and Contingency plan at each BioSpectra facility
Tracks and reports site safety performance
Initiates permit related documentation as required and files documentation in a timely manner with all applicable regulatory agencies
Monitors government permitted activities for compliance with regulations and procedures and submits compliance reports to regulatory agencies as required
Provides support and collaborates with the Safety Committee and promotes involvement with inspections and injury reduction efforts
Conducts monthly environmental, safety and loss prevention training
Performs weekly safety inspections of all company sites
Conducts and coordinates accidents/incident investigations in conjunction with the appropriate department Specialists
Communicates the necessary chemical safety requirements to BioSpectra personnel
Manages the general, filter media and residual chemical waste disposal needs for each BioSpectra facility.
Manages Non Hazardous and Hazardous waste profiles at each BioSpectra facility.
Performs risk assessments for new processes, changes in current processes or updates to processes to ensure the appropriate measures are taken to ensure employee and product safety.
Ensures the appropriate PPE is available and appropriately used by the employee within a process or during job performance.
Other duties may be assigned as deemed appropriate by management.
**Qualifications:**
Bachelors degree in related field with 2 years of experience and/or the equivalent years experience in safety and environmental reporting
Requires knowledge of federal, state and local environmental health and safety requirements
Ability to keep current on complex and ever-changing regulatory requirements
Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English
Ability to clearly communicate both in writing and verbally
**Physical Requirements:**
Lift up to 20 lbs. occasionally
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
Ability to see and distinguish color
Bend, stoop, and carry
Repeating motion that may include wrists, hands, and fingers
**Work Hours & Schedule:**
Exempt Position
Minimum of 40-45 Hours Week, or other agreed upon documented schedule
