    Description

    Basic Function:

    The Materials Handler works under direct supervision and is primarily responsible for shelving and unshelving materials associated with sales orders, work orders, and/or receipts, as below. Performs other duties as assigned.

    Responsibilities & Duties:

    · Correctly picks orders per customer-defined mix and prepares items for shipment.

    · Correctly picks materials per work orders for assembly or conversion.

    · Delivers materials to the correct location for order staging or assembly.

    · Correctly marks materials with order status, CMTR data, shipping labels, item code labels, etc.

    · Compares identifying information, counts, weights, or measures of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.

    · Assembles wooden or cardboard containers or selects preassembled containers.

    · Inserts items into containers, using spacers, fillers, and protective padding.

    · Attaches covers to wooden crates and binds containers with metal or plastic strapping.

    · Attaches identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers.

    · Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, records shortages, routes items to departments.

    · Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.

    · Safely operates material handling equipment and hoists to move, convey, or hoist materials.

    · Follows approved procedures in receiving, storage, picking, staging, and shipping.

    · Maintains various records, files, and logs pertaining to shipping, receipts, and forklift inspections.

    · Other duties as assigned by management or supervisor.

    Qualifications & Required Skills:

    ·High school diploma or equivalent. Some college is a plus.

    ·Experience in industrial environment (warehousing/distribution/manufacturing).

    ·Experience driving industrial vehicles.

    ·Ability to perform basic mathematical computations.

    ·Ability to enter data accurately.

    ·Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

    ·Solid references regarding work ethic, punctuality, accuracy, and diligence.

    ·Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
