Job Summary
This position will be posted until filled.Street Maintainers play a key role in maintaining the City of Wausau's infrastructure by performing skilled and semi-skilled work using hand tools and operating a wide variety of construction and maintenance equipment.
The job involves manual labor including snow removal, sanding asphalt paving work lift heavy loads with or without assistance to use specialized vehicles operate various machinery like dump trucks front end loaders steam boilers concrete saws brush chipper compressors jackhammers leaf blowers etc.
The employee may be exposed to disagreeable elements high low outdoor temperatures repetitive activities intense continuous noise dirty environment improper illumination chemical hazards air contamination
Foster a productive collaborative work environment coordinate efforts other City departments employees perform related duties assigned management staff may interact other city departments have experience field maintenance construction preferred qualifications include experience dump truck front end loader skills assessment test administered qualified candidates interview this position requires frequent travel within Wausau regular lifting bending twisting turning power equipment close mental visual attention continuously moderate physical demands workplace hazards require common personal protective equipment damage clothing possible.
