- Collaborate with the Circulating nurse to prepare for surgical procedures with proper instrumentation, equipment, and supplies.
- Pass instruments and supplies to the surgeon at the sterile field.
- Anticipate and provide the surgical team with necessary instruments, equipment, and supplies.
- Participate in instrument care, cleaning, and maintenance.
- Ensure accuracy of sponge, sharps, and instrument counts.
- Maintain integrity of the sterile field.
- Engage in quality improvement/quality assurance process.
- Communicate effectively and collaborate for efficient turnover goals.
- Follow safety protocols and department initiatives.

The Surgical Technologist (ST) plays a key role in providing intra-operative care to surgical patients. Working in a dynamic environment, the focus is on patient progress, quality initiatives, and ensuring a high level of patient satisfaction.
