    The University of Texas at Austin, College of Education, Department of Special Education is seeking a faculty member in the area of emotional and behavioral disorders at the Assistant Professor (tenure-track) level.

    We are seeking a colleague who will conduct research, teaching, and mentorship on interventions and prevention-oriented approaches at the systemic (i.e., whole school) and individual (i.e., student, teacher, paraprofessional) levels for students with emotional and behavioral disorders within a range of locations including schools, residential treatment facilities, and juvenile justice settings.

    Our department has robust undergraduate and graduate programs and is ranked in the top eight by U.S. News and World Report. Faculty in the Department of Special Education have an international impact on issues relevant to individuals with or at-risk for disabilities and are highly productive in research, publishing, and obtaining external funding.

    The successful candidate for this position will have the strong potential for research excellence focused broadly on emotional and behavioral disorders.

    We expect the successful candidate will have a strong record of (or potential for) securing external grants to support their program of research at the level necessary to ensure the impact of their work.

    In addition, the successful candidate will be an excellent mentor and will demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching coursework pertaining to intervention, prevention-oriented systems, and community support for students with emotional and behavioral disorders and their families.

    The successful candidate will also have research interests or experiences working with traditionally underserved student populations who are at increased risk of identification with emotional and behavioral disorders.

    Qualifications

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Ph.D. in special education, school psychology, psychology, or other closely related field.
    • Record of (or potential for) scholarly leadership (i.e., high-quality research, refereed publications) and teaching in the areas of intervention and prevention-oriented systemic approaches for children or adolescents with or at-risk for emotional and behavioral disorders.
    • Demonstrated record of (or high potential for) securing extramural research funding.
    • Experience or capacity to teach and mentor undergraduate and graduate students from a wide range of backgrounds and advance the College's mission.
