Description
*Position Overview*Camp Cody is seeking a caring, organized, and experienced Lead Summer Nurse to oversee Health Center operations for the full summer season. This role supports the health, safety, and wellbeing of campers and staff while providing calm, professional medical care in a residential camp environment.
The Lead Summer Nurse balances hands-on nursing with leadership, communication, and compliance responsibilities and works closely with camp leadership throughout the summer.
This position is ideal for a nurse who enjoys working with children, adolescents and young adults in a residential camp setting and is comfortable balancing clinical care with leadership and coordination responsibilities.
*Primary Responsibilities*
* Provide daily medical care to campers and staff for routine illnesses, injuries, and health concerns.
* Administer medications in accordance with standing orders, physician instructions, and camp protocols.
* Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation in CampMinder.
* Oversee daily Health Center operations and supervise nursing staff.
* Communicate with parents regarding health concerns, including required notifications for communicable illnesses or injuries.
* Coordinate care with camp leadership and external medical providers as needed.
* Ensure compliance with New Hampshire state regulations, ACA standards, and Camp Cody policies.
* Support workers' compensation documentation and incident reporting.
* Manage medical supplies and ensure Health Center readiness throughout the summer.
* Support camp activities and trips from a medical and safety standpoint.
* Maintain clear and consistent communication with camp leadership regarding all aspects of the Health Center, including communicable diseases, injuries, and social-emotional health concerns.
*Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:*
* Oversee the daily operations of the Camp Cody Health Center.
* Assigning and monitoring clerical, administrative, and other office and nurse and health team responsibilities and tasks among health care staff.
* Allocate available resources to enable successful task performance of health care staff.
* Oversee coordination of nursing schedules as needed.
* Manage outgoing communications to parents, external medical providers, and handle customer inquiries and complaints, as needed.
* Monitor and maintain health center supplies inventory, as needed.
* Other duties, tasks, and responsibilities as needed.
*Qualifications*
* Current RN or LPN license (New Hampshire license or ability to obtain).
* Experience working with children or adolescents preferred.
* Leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
* Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to communicate calmly and clearly with campers, parents, and staff.
* Ability to work collaboratively and as part of a team.
* Strong working knowledge of Google Workspace (G Suite) and related technology platforms.
* Comfortable working in a fast-paced, residential camp setting.
* CPR/AED certification (or willingness to obtain).
