    D.R. Horton, Inc. is currently looking for a Junior Underwriter for their Underwriting Department. The Junior Underwriter is primarily responsible for underwriting appraisals, clearing loan conditions on files that have been previously reviewed by an Underwriter, underwriting pre-defined Conventional loans and performing select audits as required.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
    • Process daily loans for underwriting that have been assigned by the Underwriting Manager, Assistant Underwriting Manager or Team Lead
    • Prioritize files in order to meet department turn times
    • Train to underwrite appraisals and clear conditions on files that have been previously reviewed by an Underwriter
    • Train to underwrite select Conventional loans as defined by the Underwriting Manager, Assistant Underwriting Manager or Team lead
    • Monitor deadlines identified by Underwriting Managers for actions necessary when conditions exist
    • Clear the conditions and approvals indicated by the Underwriter based on their level of authority
    • Initiate phone calls with Loan Processors or Mortgage Loan Originators to discuss loan files and conditions
    • Maintain frequent contact with the Processors, LO's and Branch Managers, written and verbally
    • Ability to work overtime
    • Ability to travel overnight
    • Regular and reliable attendance
    • Conducts all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company
    Qualifications

    Education and/or Experience
    • High School Diploma or equivalent
    • Two years related experience
    • Ability to obtain a valid and current Mortgage Loan Originator License if required per state regulations
    • Possess strong organizational skills and be able to multi-task effectively
    • Must possess strong effective communication skills
    • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written and oral form or via DRH applications
    • Proficiency with MS Office and email
