- Creates and plans fitness class curriculum.
- Instructs and delivers classes to participants.
- Assists in the promotion of classes, including writing materials for the Lenexa Town Talk and/or other marketing material as requested by supervisors.
- Complies with, and promotes, safety and sanitary regulations.
- Serves as a first responder when necessary at department facilities.
- Attends mandatory meetings.
- Tracks attendance, and inspects equipment and room for safety concerns.
- Assists with special events and festivals.

Job DescriptionThe City of Lenexa Parks and Recreation department is currently accepting applications for Certified GroupX Fitness Instructors to join our team at the Rec Center Looking for instructors that are comfortable teaching multiple formats. Also having specialty certifications such as pilates, yoga, barre, cycle, and aqua are a plus. Must be available for evenings. Possible day-time subbing available.

Position Summary
This position will be responsible for planning and leading safe and effective group exercise classes to participants with a wide variety of fitness backgrounds and physical abilities, as well as additional related opportunities as deemed appropriate by the Rec Center.

Qualifications
Minimum: High school diploma or equivalent. Nationally recognized group fitness certification.
Desired: CPR/First Aid/AED certified, knowledge of general Parks and Recreation practices, at least one year of group fitness instruction and customer service experience.
Compensation
The starting rate of pay is $24.50. City residency is not required.
Offers of employment are conditional upon successful completion of a pre-employment drug test, physical and background check.
