    Responsibilities*The Pediatric Cardio-thoracic Intensive Care Unit (PCTU) is a 20 bed tertiary care center receiving patients from state, regional, national and international referrals.

    PCTU specializes in the medical and surgical care of infants, children, adolescents and adults with congenital and acquired heart disease.

    Our goal is the provision of exemplary nursing care embracing a philosophy of family centered care empowering families to participate in the decision making and care of their children.


    The Pediatric Cardio-thoracic Intensive Care Unit nurse cares for patients in a technology intensive environment including ECMO, CRRT and VAD's.

    They are required to perform complex physiologic patient assessments in a high intensity environment for high acuity patients with rapidly changing status.

    Our patients undergo the most progressive surgical and catheterization interventions.

    Our nursing staff practice in close partnership with the cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons and fellows providing individual support and education to families and patients throughout their intensive care unit admission.

    Hourly range for Registered Nurses $38.26-$59.35 / hour


    • Evening Shift Differential-$3.00 / hour
    • Night Shift Differential- $4.00 / hour
    • Day Shift Weekend Differential- $2.90 / hour
    • Evening Shift Weekend Differential- $5.90 / hour
    • Night Shift Weekend Differential- $6.90 / hour
    • Charge Nurse Differential- $1.00 / hour

    Required Qualifications*Current Michigan Registered Nurse License.

    Two (2) years of current ICU RN experience


    PALS certification is required (or within six (6) months of date of hire) or MUST be completed prior to end of probationary period .

    Desired Qualifications*Knowledge of, and experience with, the congenital heart patient population

    BSN preferred.

    PALS or ACLS.Demonstrated excellent communication and problem solving skills.

    Demonstrated strong collaborative skills.

    Demonstrated skill with and knowledge of the principals of Patient and Family Centered Care.

    Work Schedule

    Hours per week: 36


    Shift/Hours/Days:
    Night shift, 8 & 12 hour shifts; Monday through Friday and rotating weekends

    Note:
    All new employees will be expected to float to a designated unit(s) in times of low census.
